La Pícara Ensemble - José de Nebra and the baroque zarzuela
|naar||Grote Sint LaurensKerk|
La Pícara is an international ensemble of young talented musicians specialized in historical performance practice. The group was founded by the cellist Maximiliano Segura Sánchez and the singer Lucía Caihuela, and it has its main focus in Spanish baroque repertoire.
With the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the death of José de Nebra, one of the most brilliant eigtheenth century Spanish composers, yet unknown in the rest of Europe, the ensemble has prepared a programme in which we can hear a selection of arias and duets of his most renowned zarzuelas.
Zarzuela is a Spanish lyric-dramatic genre originated in the seventeenth century that, unlike opera, combines spoken and sung scenes.
José de Nebra was the son of an organist and he himself worked as an organist too.
In this concert, you will also listen to some Iberian organ pieces performed by Pieter van Dijk.
This concert will take place in the Grote Kerk in Alkmaar on April 7 at 16:30.
